Year after year, season after season, I give myself a closet edit. What’s working…..what no longer makes me happy…..what was an experiment that I no longer want. Etc…. Do you do this? Actually, one of my services as a Personal Stylist IS a closet/wardrobe edit. People switch jobs, their weight can change and of course, personal style changes and evolves over time.
In the past couple of years, I’ve worked hard to really achieve a capsule wardrobe. A Capsule Wardrobe has been defined by Susie Faux as: a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces. This is true and I will add in my version as well: 75%-85% of my wardrobe are minimalist, simple but chic pieces that are interchangeable and mix and match very well together. If you’ve followed me for awhile, then you know I stick with mostly black, white, ivory, tan with hints of navy, mixed prints and denim. And I love dresses!
One of the things I want to start doing on a regular basis is to select one item each week and style that item in a variety of ways so you can see how one key piece can be worn with items that you already own. To start, this plaid blazer is a new addition to my wardrobe. I’ve styled it 3 ways, The first is a bit more casual as it is paired with distressed straight cut jeans and vans. The blazer can be found here. A very similar sleeveless ribbed sweater can be found here. My sunnies, here. My booties (and I am completely obsessed with this gorgeous gunmetal grey) can be found here.
Style number two mixes classics with a little edge. The blazer, found here, will look great with skinnies, jeans or a skirt…..but here I styled the outfit with one of my favorite graphic tees from one of my favorite designers, Anine Bing. The tee can be found here. The handbag here and the shorter necklace here and the longer necklace here (though both necklaces have extenders)
This final outfit is just a classic, simple and timeless look. The blazer is paired with (one of my favorite staples) black skinny pants…..these booties I’m obsessed with…..my new handbag and what I think is the perfect white tee. This tee has a slightly higher neckline and is perfect under blazers and moto jackets (and is available in several colors) All the items from above: Blazer, Bing Tee, Bing Sunnies, White Tee, Handbag, Booties, Shorter Necklace, Longer Necklace, Black Sleeveless Ribbed Sweater (similar) Follow my IG for more postings and if there is a particular item you are looking for or that you would like to see styled, DM me on Instagram or send an email!
